Adopt or Foster a Dog

Pet Rescue is dedicated to providing cats and dogs with a second chance to find loving and safe homes.
Dogs currently available for adoption are featured below. New animals are added as they become available.
You can help! Please share their profiles, because every adoption makes room for another deserving pet.

Please be sure to check the status of the dog you may be interested in adopting.  The status of a particular dog will be one of the following:

  • Adoptable - Dog has not yet been adopted out to a family although there may be applications that are still in the process of being evaluated.  In addition, following approval the applicant will meet the dog with their family to make sure it is a good fit.
  • Adoption Pending - Approved applicant has scheduled a meet and greet with the dog and an adoption seems likely.
  • Adopted- Dog has been adopted but will continue to remain our website for a short period of time following the actual adoption.

Please come meet our adoptable dogs at our Meet & Greet, every Saturday from 11:30am - 1:30pm at Pet Rescue, 7 Harrison Ave, Harrison NY 10528. Please call us with any questions you may have about our sweet dogs: 914-835-3332

A little About Summer...

Summer is a very sweet dog looking for a new forever home. Her current owner loves her dearly but her job situation has changed, in that she is out of the house for long periods of time. Summer needs and loves to be with people, so we are looking for the best forever home where she is not alone for long periods of time.  Summer has lived with another dog and misses that companionship. In her new forever home, she needs another dog as she gets comfort from having that company. She loves to play and go for daily walks…and she loves car rides! Summer is inquisitive and curious about things around her and especially loves playing in the snow. She does well with children and cats and truly loves human and dog company.  She has an adorable habit of walking behind you and tapping the back of your leg with her nose to let you know she’s there. Her current mom thinks that in a previous home she may have lived with someone with sight or hearing issues, so she learned to do that…smart girl.  She will sleep in her bed at the end of yours and she loves to be with her humans at all times.  Summer is crate trained, which she prefers to be in if you go out, as she feels secure.  She is house trained and will ask to go out, and she walks on a leash quite well.  Summer is a smart girl and knows commands for “sit" and "come here”. She eats a raw food diet from The Farmers Dog and enjoys her food. Summer is a dog who loves and needs routine. She may take a little time to warm up to you, but once she knows that she is safe and loved, she will give her everything to you.  She loves to cuddle on the sofa while you are watching TV or reading. Summer was diagnosed with Addison’s disease, and is on daily meds. She is very good at taking her meds since a treat always follows meds…no problem! (and she’ll remind you if you forget). Summer’s adoption comes with everything to make her feel settled…beds, crate, dog bowls, medication, a car travel seat and much more. Summer is the sweetest girl, who deserves to live her best life ever with someone who can give that to her. Be sure to complete an application on line, and come to our Meet & Greet Saturday 11:30-1:30.
